The work The Lazy Fisherman by William Tylee Ranney was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in December 2008. It changed hands for a price of USD 662,500.00 (€ 475,968.10) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Lazy Fisherman is the most expensive artwork by William Tylee Ranney that we have observed at auctions so far.
