Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2010 Christies in London held the auction Travel, Science and Natural History, which included the work Trial of two prisoners for looting Commissariat Stores; and Abyssinian Plough by William Simpson. It changed hands for a price of GBP 937.50 (€ 1,084.32) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Simpson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives in March last year with an auction result of GBP 94,500.00 (€ 112,040.39).
