This artwork by William Simpson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2012. In the 19th Century European Art including Orientalist Art auction, the work The Governor-General's silver state howdah sold for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 13,156.28) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Simpson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives in March last year with an auction result of GBP 94,500.00 (€ 112,040.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 77 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Simpson erzielte im Juni 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century European Art including Orientalist Art wurde die Arbeit The Governor-General's silver state howdah für GBP 10.625,00 (€ 13.156,28) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Simpson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 94.500,00 (€ 112.040,39).
