It achieved a price of GBP 19,375.00 (€ 21,203.44), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 29%. Admittedly, works by William Simpson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives in March last year with an auction result of GBP 94,500.00 (€ 112,040.39).

Die Arbeit British Bazaar, Suez von William Simpson kam im November 2009 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 19.375,00 (€ 21.203,44) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 29%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Simpson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 94.500,00 (€ 112.040,39).
