In March 2011 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors Including Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours From The Collection of The Late John Appleby, which included the work Advanced post in the village of Issy, France by William Simpson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,121.55), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Simpson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives in March last year with an auction result of GBP 94,500.00 (€ 112,040.39).

Im März 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors Including Paintings, Drawings & Watercolours From The Collection of The Late John Appleby durch, in der auch die Arbeit Advanced post in the village of Issy, France von William Simpson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.121,55) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Simpson erzielen.
