In January 2009 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Kelp gatherers on a beach with boats beyond by William Shayer Snr.. The auction ended at the price of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,251.33), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Shayer Snr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The itinerant rabbit seller in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 36,425.00 (€ 57,963.65).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Januar 2009 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Kelp gatherers on a beach with boats beyond von William Shayer Snr. zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.251,33) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Shayer Snr. erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The itinerant rabbit seller im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 36.425,00 (€ 57.963,65).
