Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Shayer Snr. could be acquired at Christies in London in November 2010 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Victorian and British Impressionist Pictures auction, the work A rest on the way to market changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,481.24) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Shayer Snr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The itinerant rabbit seller in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 36,425.00 (€ 57,963.65).
