The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,526.40), 72% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Prewett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Gentleman, In Brown Velvet Coat And Waistcoat, White Frilled Shirt And Cravat, Long Curling Powdered Wig in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 4,800.00 (€ 6,962.35).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of A Child, Circa 1740 von William Prewett wurde im Mai 2020 in der Auktion Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.526,40) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Prewett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Gentleman, In Brown Velvet Coat And Waistcoat, White Frilled Shirt And Cravat, Long Curling Powdered Wig im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.800,00 (€ 6.962,35).
