In November 2000 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES, GOLD BOXES & OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work A Knight of the Order of Bath, facing right in gold-bordered green velvet coat, white waistcoat and lace cravat, full bottomed powdered wig, wearing the red sash of the Order of Bath by William Prewett. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,760.00 (€ 6,145.57), 50% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Prewett; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Gentleman, In Brown Velvet Coat And Waistcoat, White Frilled Shirt And Cravat, Long Curling Powdered Wig sold at auction in July 2005 with the realized price of GBP 4,800.00 (€ 6,962.35).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.760,00 (€ 6.145,57) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
