Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2012 Christies in London held the auction Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work A gentleman, in light green coat and waistcoat, frilled cravat, short powdered curling wig by William Prewett. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,245.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by William Prewett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Gentleman, In Brown Velvet Coat And Waistcoat, White Frilled Shirt And Cravat, Long Curling Powdered Wig in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 4,800.00 (€ 6,962.35).
