Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art, which included the work The Lover'S Seat by William Powell Frith. The price achieved of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,075.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Powell Frith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Derby Day: the 'first study' for the celebrated painting in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 505,250.00 (€ 605,108.24).
