Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lough Key From Rockingham, County Roscommon, Ireland by William Pars was sold in the Old Master and British Works on Paper Including drawings from the Oppé Collection auction at Sothebys in London in July 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,158.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Pars have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View Of Twickenham And The River Thames From Strawberry Hill, London in June 2001 with an auction result of GBP 15,275.00 (€ 25,374.81).
