Auction result well in line with expectations
The work ‘No!’ by William Papas was sold in the The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer auction at Sothebys in London in March 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 438.00 (€ 498.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Papas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Brief Candle, which sold at auction in March 2018 for GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,423.19).

Die Arbeit ‘No!’ von William Papas wurde im März 2018 in der Auktion The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 438,00 (€ 498,69) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von William Papas mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Brief Candle beobachtet, die im März 2018 für GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.423,19) versteigert wurde.
