Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction British & Continental Paintings, which included the work Tinder-Box With Captain Lummie Harford (Scots Guards) Up by William Osborne. The price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 7,539.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Osborne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The hounds from York & Ainsty Kennels in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 41,645.70).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 7.539,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Osborne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The hounds from York & Ainsty Kennels im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 41.645,70).
