Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2001 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Still Life with Lobster, Fruit, Champagne and Newspaper by William Michael Harnett. Here, the upper estimate of USD 180,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 182,000.00 (€ 203,170.35). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Michael Harnett - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life With Violin, which sold at auction in November 2019 for USD 500,000.00 (€ 453,761.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2001 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Still Life with Lobster, Fruit, Champagne and Newspaper von William Michael Harnett zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 180.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 182.000,00 (€ 203.170,35) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von William Michael Harnett mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life With Violin beobachtet, die im November 2019 für USD 500.000,00 (€ 453.761,68) versteigert wurde.
