In November 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work The Other Door by William McGregor Paxton for USD 187,500.00 (€ 177,523.20). This price was achieved in the auction The Collection of A. Alfred Taubman: American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by William McGregor Paxton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Letter in April 2002 with an auction result of USD 834,500.00 (€ 927,016.22).
