The »bidding war« ended at USD 74,500.00 (€ 52,739.63), 24% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Michael Harnett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With Violin in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 500,000.00 (€ 453,761.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Table Top Still Life With London Times von William Michael Harnett wurde im Mai 2009 in der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 74.500,00 (€ 52.739,63) und damit 24% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Michael Harnett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life With Violin im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 500.000,00 (€ 453.761,68).
