Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of The Artist'S Father, Three-Quarter-Length, Reading A Newspaper With A Dog On His Lap by William Kennedy was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 240.00 (€ 343.88). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Kennedy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spring Blossom in August 2008 with an auction result of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,300.22).
