In December 2015 Sothebys in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Dutch Scuts In A Calm by William Joy. It changed hands for a price of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,184.64) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Other works by William Joy have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in October 2021 the work A Dutch galliot and other vessels in calm conditions on a British shoreline was auctioned for GBP 8,925.00 (€ 10,573.71).
