In May 2008 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art, which included the work Partridge Shooting; Drawing Cover; Grouse Shooting; Hounds going to the Meet; Full Cry; In Difficulties; In Clips; The Death; and The First Turn by William Joseph Shayer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,540.33), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Joseph Shayer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Going out of Kennels; Moving Off; Casting for Scent; Gone Away; Full Cry; and Nearing the Kill., which sold at auction in December 2000 for USD 23,500.00 (€ 25,031.96).
