The work A hungry visitor; and Farmyard friends by William Joseph Shayer was sold in the Sporting & Wildlife Art auction at Christies in London in November 2013. The price achieved of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,715.99) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Joseph Shayer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Going out of Kennels; Moving Off; Casting for Scent; Gone Away; Full Cry; and Nearing the Kill. in December 2000 with an auction result of USD 23,500.00 (€ 25,031.96).
