Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work Grapes, apples and a wicker basket by William Hughes. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,530.09) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers, Fruit, A Bullfinch And Its Nest in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 20,400.00 (€ 30,294.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Grapes, apples and a wicker basket von William Hughes zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.530,09) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 1.800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hughes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Flowers, Fruit, A Bullfinch And Its Nest im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.400,00 (€ 30.294,64).
