Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Grapes, an apple and a red-admiral butterfly on a mossy bank by William Hughes was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2005. The price achieved of GBP 576.00 (€ 845.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers, Fruit, A Bullfinch And Its Nest in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 20,400.00 (€ 30,294.64).
