Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A pear, strawberries and grapes on a mossy bank; and An apple and grapes on a mossy bank by William Hughes was sold in the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES auction at Christies in London in February 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,342.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers, Fruit, A Bullfinch And Its Nest in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 20,400.00 (€ 30,294.64).

Die Arbeit A pear, strawberries and grapes on a mossy bank; and An apple and grapes on a mossy bank von William Hughes wurde im Februar 2002 in der Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL PICTURES bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 822,50 (€ 1.342,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hughes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Flowers, Fruit, A Bullfinch And Its Nest im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.400,00 (€ 30.294,64).
