Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2011 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters & 19th Century Art, which included the work Portrait of Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), three-quarter-length, in the robes of the Lord High Chancellor and holding the Great Seal by William Hoare of Bath. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,050.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hoare of Bath achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Ayuba Suleiman Diallo, called Job ben Solomon (1701-1773), half-length, in African dress, with the Qu'ran around his neck, in a feigned oval in December 2009 with an auction result of GBP 541,250.00 (€ 610,549.03).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters & 19th Century Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke (1690-1764), three-quarter-length, in the robes of the Lord High Chancellor and holding the Great Seal von William Hoare of Bath zur Versteigerung kam.
