Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of A Gentleman by William Hoare of Bath for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,427.70). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Drawings including French Masterworks from the Dormeuil Collection at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hoare of Bath achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Ayuba Suleiman Diallo, called Job ben Solomon (1701-1773), half-length, in African dress, with the Qu'ran around his neck, in a feigned oval in December 2009 with an auction result of GBP 541,250.00 (€ 610,549.03).

Im Juli 2013 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman von William Hoare of Bath für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.427,70) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings including French Masterworks from the Dormeuil Collection bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hoare of Bath erzielen.
