Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Drawings Sale, which included the work Portrait Of Lady Frances Elizabeth Brudenell-Bruce, Later Lady Frances Elizabeth Wilson (1765-1836) by William Hoare of Bath. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,960.82) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hoare of Bath achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Ayuba Suleiman Diallo, called Job ben Solomon (1701-1773), half-length, in African dress, with the Qu'ran around his neck, in a feigned oval in December 2009 with an auction result of GBP 541,250.00 (€ 610,549.03).
