Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work Caught in a swell off the French coast by William Henry Williamson. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,975.55). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Henry Williamson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping Off The Coast In Heavy Seas, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,685.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime durch, in der auch die Arbeit Caught in a swell off the French coast von William Henry Williamson zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.975,55) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von William Henry Williamson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shipping Off The Coast In Heavy Seas beobachtet, die im Dezember 2006 für GBP 7.200,00 (€ 10.685,70) versteigert wurde.
