Auction result well in line with expectations
The work High Street, Oxford, C. 1845 by William Henry Fox Talbot was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 8,689.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Fox Talbot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work William Henry Fox Talbot’S Gifts To His Sister: Horatia Gaisford’S Collection Of Photographs And Ephemera in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,956,000.00 (€ 1,625,935.16).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit High Street, Oxford, C. 1845 von William Henry Fox Talbot kam im Mai 2015 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 8.689,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
