Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Mrs Siddons in the character of Euphrasia in the Grecian Daughter by William Hamilton was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,962.50 (€ 14,034.81) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Hamilton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Campi Phlegraei. Observations On The Volcanos Of The Two Sicilies. Supplement To The Campi Phlegraei Being An Account Of The Great Eruption Of Mont Vesuvius In The Month Of August 1779. Napoli: Pietro Fabris, 1776-79 in November 2010 with an auction result of EUR 82,350.00.
Observations On The Volcanos Of The Two Sicilies. Supplement To The Campi Phlegraei Being An Account Of The Great Eruption Of Mont Vesuvius In The Month Of August 1779.
