Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Colchester Smack Sunbeam On The Blackwater by William Bishop was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 720.00 (€ 1,069.22). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Bishop achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October, 1805 - H.M.S. Victory's starboard side under fire from Rédoubtable in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 11,950.00 (€ 17,929.40).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Colchester Smack Sunbeam On The Blackwater von William Bishop im November 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 720,00 (€ 1.069,22) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Bishop erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October, 1805 - H.M.S.
