Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Returning home from the Admiral's Cup Race, Cowes England, 1987 by William Bishop was auctioned at Christies in New York in July 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,840.00 (€ 2,800.67). Admittedly, works by William Bishop have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October, 1805 - H.M.S. Victory's starboard side under fire from Rédoubtable in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 11,950.00 (€ 17,929.40).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Returning home from the Admiral's Cup Race, Cowes England, 1987 von William Bishop im Juli 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.840,00 (€ 2.800,67) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Bishop auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Battle of Trafalgar, 21st October, 1805 - H.M.S.
