Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Tour Eiffel, Henry Melville With Augustus John by William Gaunt for GBP 480.00 (€ 705.18). This price was achieved in the auction A VIEW OVER EATON SQUAREA PRIVATE COLLECTION at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Gaunt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Public Speaking, which sold at auction in November 2005 for GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,115.54).
