In February 2003 Christies in London held the auction THE FORBES COLLECTION OF VICTORIAN PICTURES AND WORKS OF ART, which included the work A Cottage Garden by William Frederick Yeames. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 14,937.50 (€ 21,808.28), 24% above the upper estimate. With this result, A Cottage Garden is even the most expensive work of art by William Frederick Yeames that we have observed at auctions so far.
