Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The iron screw frigate H.M.S. Raleigh; and The twin-turret ship H.M.S. Edinburgh at sea by William Frederick Settle was sold in the Maritime auction at Christies in London in May 2000. The price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,319.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 900.00. Admittedly, works by William Frederick Settle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Warships and other vessels in a calm in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,857.88).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The iron screw frigate H.M.S. Raleigh; and The twin-turret ship H.M.S. Edinburgh at sea von William Frederick Settle wurde im Mai 2000 in der Auktion Maritime bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 822,50 (€ 1.319,81) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 700,00 – 900,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Frederick Settle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Warships and other vessels in a calm im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 8.857,88).
