This artwork by William Frederick Settle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2001. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work Shipping in a calm; and Shipping in choppy seas sold for GBP 763.75 (€ 1,232.39) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 350.00. Admittedly, works by William Frederick Settle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Warships and other vessels in a calm in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,857.88).

In der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings wurde die Arbeit Shipping in a calm; and Shipping in choppy seas für GBP 763,75 (€ 1.232,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 350,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Frederick Settle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Warships and other vessels in a calm im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.000,00 (€ 8.857,88).
