This artwork by William Frederick Settle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2001. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction, the work Shipping in a calm; and Shipping in choppy seas sold for GBP 763.75 (€ 1,232.39) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 350.00. Admittedly, works by William Frederick Settle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Warships and other vessels in a calm in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,857.88).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Frederick Settle erzielte im März 2001 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings wurde die Arbeit Shipping in a calm; and Shipping in choppy seas für GBP 763,75 (€ 1.232,39) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 350,00.
