Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Royal Naval First Rate passing an Admiralty cutter in the Channel by William Frederick Settle was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2003. The price achieved of GBP 646.25 (€ 900.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Admittedly, works by William Frederick Settle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Warships and other vessels in a calm in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,857.88).
