A top price for William Eggleston - as previously expected
In May this year Christies in New York held the auction 21st Century Evening Sale, which included the work Untitled, 1970 by William Eggleston. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,008,000.00 (€ 946,123.52) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Untitled, 1970 is the most expensive artwork by William Eggleston that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 21st Century Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled, 1970 von William Eggleston zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.008.000,00 (€ 946.123,52) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Untitled, 1970 das teuerste Kunstwerk von William Eggleston, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
