This artwork by William Dole achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September last year. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made In California auction, the work Thru Traffic Merge Left, 1971 sold for USD 2,805.00 (€ 2,867.22) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Dole; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot History of the King, 1963 sold at auction in September last year with the realized price of USD 4,080.00 (€ 4,170.50).

In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made In California wurde die Arbeit Thru Traffic Merge Left, 1971 für USD 2.805,00 (€ 2.867,22) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.200,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von William Dole; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit History of the King, 1963 im September letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 4.080,00 (€ 4.170,50).
