Despite a disappointment, a good price for William Christenberry
When the work 'William Christenberry: 15 Alabama Photographs' by William Christenberry was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,061.42). Despite this disappointing result, 'William Christenberry: 15 Alabama Photographs' is the most expensive artwork by William Christenberry that we have observed at auction so far.
