Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Lake Petrarch, Mount Byron Vale of Cuvier, Tasmania by William Charles Piguenit. The price achieved of AUD 5,975.00 (€ 3,641.21) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Charles Piguenit have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work On the 'Break-O'-Day' Plains, Tasmania (Sunset after a storm), 1895 in April 2003 with an auction result of AUD 70,500.00 (€ 35,950.41).
