In May 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction The Ken and Rona Eastaugh Collection, which included the work Australian On Lane Cove River by William Charles Piguenit. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 18,000.00 (€ 10,185.05), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Charles Piguenit - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On the 'Break-O'-Day' Plains, Tasmania (Sunset after a storm), 1895, which sold at auction in April 2003 for AUD 70,500.00 (€ 35,950.41).
