This artwork by William Callcott Knell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2013. In the Maritime Art auction, the work Fishing Boats At The Mouth Of The Thames; And On The Medway (One Illustrated) sold for GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,042.56) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Callcott Knell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Warships approaching the anchorage in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 33,600.00 (€ 25,850.13).
