Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work Congested waters at the harbour mouth by William Callcott Knell. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 2,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 2,625.00 (€ 3,675.68). Admittedly, works by William Callcott Knell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Warships approaching the anchorage in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 33,600.00 (€ 25,850.13).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime durch, in der auch die Arbeit Congested waters at the harbour mouth von William Callcott Knell zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 2.500,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 2.625,00 (€ 3.675,68) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Callcott Knell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Warships approaching the anchorage im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 33.600,00 (€ 25.850,13).
