Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a father and son, three-quarter length, one holding a book by William Buckler was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25.00 – 200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 29.38 (€ 47.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Buckler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a lady, thought to be Horatia Nelson Ward, seated in a garden chair in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,431.05).
