In January 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work 'Whilst Surfeited Upon Thy Damask Cheek, The High-Fed Worm In Lazy Volumes Roll'D, Riots Unscar'D' by William Blake. The price achieved of USD 200,000.00 (€ 185,288.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 180,000.00 – 240,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Blake - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Gambols Of Ghosts According With Their Affections Previous To The Final Judgement, which sold at auction in January 2013 for USD 722,500.00 (€ 531,875.74).
