Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Descent Of Man Into The Vale Of Death by William Blake was sold in the Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 225,000.00 (€ 207,717.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Blake - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Gambols Of Ghosts According With Their Affections Previous To The Final Judgement, which sold at auction in January 2013 for USD 722,500.00 (€ 531,875.74).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Descent Of Man Into The Vale Of Death von William Blake wurde im Januar 2016 in der Auktion Master Drawings bei Sothebys in New York versteigert.
