Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by William Baxter Collier Fyfe could be acquired at Sothebys in London in August 2006 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Gleneagles Pictures auction, the work The Fan changed hands for GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,710.32) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Baxter Collier Fyfe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The raid of Ruthven, an incident in the life of James VI of Scotland 'On the 23rd of August, 1852, the Earl of Gowrie invited the King to his castle of Ruthven, under the pretext of hunting. He was joined by the Earl of Mar, Lord Lindsay, the Tutor in October 2005 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00
