Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mending father's socks by William Baxter Collier Fyfe was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,350.00 (€ 2,613.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Baxter Collier Fyfe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The raid of Ruthven, an incident in the life of James VI of Scotland 'On the 23rd of August, 1852, the Earl of Gowrie invited the King to his castle of Ruthven, under the pretext of hunting. He was joined by the Earl of Mar, Lord Lindsay, the Tutor in October 2005 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The raid of Ruthven, an incident in the life of James VI of Scotland 'On the 23rd of August, 1852, the Earl of Gowrie invited the King to his castle of Ruthven, under the pretext of hunting. He was joined by the Earl of Mar, Lord Lindsay, the Tutor im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.000,00 (€ 26.544,56).
