Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2010 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale, which included the work A waterfall, with the artist sketching in the foreground by William Armstrong. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,125.00 (€ 3,614.39) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Armstrong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work On the Kaministiquoia River, Lake Superior in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,023.64).
